James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute] Dr. Rathmell: It's thrilling to walk around ASCO as the CEO of the James and to be a part of this rich community that has long-standing history in cancer research and real leadership in this area. It's fun to walk around in my red jacket and know that I'm representing the Scarlet and Gray. The thing that drew me here was the opportunity to have a big impact in patient care, to work very closely with students, trainees, you know, people on the trajectory to become our next generation of researchers, clinicians, nurses, the contributors to how we take care of cancer patients in the future, and to really see the research that's going to inspire all of that to be a part of big discovery. And I saw at Ohio State the opportunity for all of that. [music playing[] There's so much good work that's happening at the James, and we want to get that work out there, and I've been really delighted to see how many people recognize Ohio State, how many people have come up to me and said, I'm so glad to see you're there, I'm so excited for you, and I really love Ohio State. And I have heard that over and over again, and it makes me really thrilled and happy to be here. [music fades] I think the thing that sets The James apart is really the continuity that exists currently between the research and the clinical care. That ability to collaborate from clinicians, investigators, students, trainees. It's the mentality that we're here to make this happen and we'll give whatever it takes. I see that in Ohio State. I've heard that from people who are outside who are jealous of the kind of really, truly collaborative spirit that we have. So I hope when people hear "The James" in the future, I hope that they think about hope. [music plays] I hope that they think, "I know that I will get the answer that I'm looking for when I go to The James." I hope that they really feel a sense of exactly what our mission is, which is creating a cancer-free world. That they will be a part of that, and that that's a real tangible goal that we're all in together. [Text on screen: The James The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center]
